Kirkland Lake Community Park played host this past weekend to the Northern Tel Mobility Snowcross. A great track awaited the racers when they arrived Saturday for a weekend full of exciting races. The sun and mild temperatures through the weekend made for excellent weather and brought out a full crowd of spectators.

On Saturday night the Pro Stock class was won by #999 Michael VanDolder of Annan, Ontario who was first to the finish line with his Dayco Ski-Doo. #115 David Joanis of Cochrane, Ontario racing for Bourque Polaris came across in second place ahead of the #14 Ski-Doo of Peter Raymer from Kodiak/Sloot Construction. Next up was the Semi-Pro Stock class where Rockstar racer, #421 Dylan Hall, in his first year in the Semi-Pro division took the win on his
Royal Distributing/Factory Recreation Ski-Doo. Second place was #287 Jeff Sanftenberg a motocross racer in the off-season, using the skills he’s acquired on the dirt to land him on the podium in the snow. Rounding out the top three was #219 Jamie Byers of Orillia, Ontario on his Byers Motorsport/Supertrax Polaris. Sunday was filled with excitement on the track, first with the Semi-Pro Stock class. Taking his first Semi-Pro win, #381 J.B. Dennis grabbed the checkered flag after passing the #87 Arctic Cat of Dustin Vandrie who has seemed to be untouchable off the start this year. Vandrie ended up second place ahead of #217 Sean Macaulay of Team Rosko/Ski-Doo. The Pro Women took the track in front of a huge crowd with the focus on #111 Stacey Orr, spectators were focused on the lone woman racer of the local team, Rosko Powersports. Although she put up a good fight, Orr just couldn’t get ahead of #55 Angela Vacchino who
took the win for Shorline Racing/Arctic Cat. The anticipation could be felt across the entire town of Kirkland Lake when the Pro Open Final made it’s way to the start line. Team Rosko  Powersports once again came out on top with #98 Mike Island taking the win much to the approval of the local fans. Island had to work hard for his win with #93 Iain Hayden banging on his back door all the way to the checkered flag. Hayden took second place on his Yamaha followed by #59 Billy Turner of Team Advance for his first podium appearance of the season. Races will take a break until March 27th & 28th at Chicopee Ski Club in Kitchener, Ontario for the Ryde FX Pro Snowcross. With only two races left to go, the points race is heating up!
